Job Description: Nationwide Insurance is looking to fill five actuarial
internship inpositions in Personal Lines Pricing for Summer 2011.  The
internship positions will be in the following areas; Commercial Pricing,
Standard Auto Pricing, Specialty Auto Pricing, Homeowners Pricing, and
Pricing Research, all in Columbus, Ohio.  This is an excellent opportunity
to experience working at a large Property and Casualty insurer.
  Responsibilities:
  The actuarial intern will:
  * Become familiar with data sources and requirements; retrieve and
    manipulate data. Estimate future loss and premium results.
  * Under direct supervision, conduct analyses that adhere to actuarial
    standards of practice: select appropriate data sources and methods,
    make assumptions, recognize considerations and develop
    recommendations.
  * Develop knowledge of actuarial methodologies.
  * Prepare memos, documents, and letters as directed.
    Communications are to be concise, logical, organized, and
    grammatically correct. Recipient of documents may include internal
    and external parties including regulatory bodies.
Qualifications:
  EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE: No prior actuarial work experience
  required. Knowledge of advanced mathematics and statistical
  concepts.
  EDUCATION: Pursuing bachelor's degree in actuarial science,
  mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, or related field with a
  strong quantitative orientation. Actuarial exam takers and non-exam
  takers will be considered.
  SKILLS: Effective oral/written communication skills; Ability to
  comprehend actuarial concepts and other advanced statistical
  concepts; Ability to think logically and perform accurate calculations
  in a timely manner; Ability to use personal computer and related
  spreadsheet and database software; Strong problem solving and
  analytical thinking ability.
