GEC INFORMATION: This Mathematics course can be used, depending on
your degree program, to satisfy the Quantitative and Logical Skills category of
the General Education Requirement (GEC). The goals and learning objectives
for this category are:
Goals: To study the conceptual foundations of precalculus
mathematics and to develop the computational and problem solving skills
needed for that purpose.
Learning objectives:
--- Understanding the basic properties of trigonometric, and inverse
trigonometric functions; modeling real-life situations in terms of these
functions.
--- Introduction to complex numbers, vectors, and vector operations.

Tests: There will be three midterms and one final exams. You may use your calculator. You may not use your text, notes, or solutions to assignments. Except for extraordinary reasons, you must take the examinations at the scheduled times.
Calculators: A graphing calculator is a required component in this course. It is recommended that you use a TI-83, TI-83 plus, or a TI-84. Note that the TI-89, TI-92, and calculators that use a Computer Algebra System are not permitted.
