Alain Connes, Professor of Mathematics at The Ohio State University, is Professor at the
Collège de France and holds the Léon Motchane Chair at l'Institut des Hautes
Études Scientifiques. He is a Foreign Associate Member of the National Academy of Sciences,
Membre de l'Académie des Sciences, France, and holds membership in the scientific
academies of Canada, Denmark and Norway. In 1982, Professor Connes was awarded the
Fields Medal. In 2001,
Professor Connes was awarded the Crafoord Prize by
the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
In Autumn 1998 Professor Connes gave a course at Ohio State about his work on the
Riemann Hypothesis.
