Boundaries of Groups - A View from the Inside

Lectures 1, 2, 3: Amenability and group actions on compact and compact convex spaces. Iwasawa groups and their boundaries. Harmonic functions on Riemannian symmetric spaces and their boundary values.
Lectures 4, 5, 6: Random matrix products and laws of large numbers. Qualitative behavior of random products and random walks on groups. Generalized harmonic functions and the Poisson boundary.
Lectures 7, 8: Boundaries of lattices in semi-simple Lie groups (the work of Kaimanovitch and Ledrappier). Application to rigidity of lattices.
Lectures 9, 10: Entropy of general group actions. Structure theory for higher rank Lie group actions (the work of Nevo and Zimmer).
