The key property of an integrable periodic dynamical system is that it
decomposes into into degrees of freedom each one of which
- rotates uniformly,
- has a characteristic angular frequency which depends on the action of
this degree of freedom, and
- executes a motion which is related to the physical motion by the
principle of constructive interference.
